Purple-green Galaxea spp. (20mm Frag plug)
Our stony LPS corals will actively be encrusting onto the frag plug of their own accord, not simply glued onto plugs
Description:
An interconnected skeleton of small flowing, tentacle like polyps, the outer ones being pinky-purple and inner ones vivid green. Polyps are tipped with blue (under normal reef lighting). On close inspection colonies look like a mass of tiny torch corals, from afar, a mass of small flowing polyps.
Random polyps in the colony are capable of sending out very long sweeper tentacles (upto 10cm long) Whilst these sweepers look gorgeous wafting in the flow, they give the coral its reputation of being deadly to nearby species. It is good practise to leave a 10cm space, 'down flow' of this species to stop any murderous incidents!
Size
A 20mm plug, encrusted with a minimum of 10 heads
Care
Undemanding, under normal reef conditions, low to high light, medium to high flow. Make sure to leave space between this coral and others due to the potential for it to release stinging sweeper tentacles. Sweepers will be longer in higher flow.
Growth
Moderate to fast
Minimum polyp count per frag
10
