We like customers to understand how to cultivate this species and its growth phases, to avoid disillusion as to how different the initial cutting looks from a established mother colony. It is a considerable outlay and requires care t establish the cutting.

The cuttings have to be taken from a 2cm section between the thallus and as such are very small. They must differentiate a holdfast spike in their new home by been gently attached to a piece of rock rubble. They cannot be shipped any larger than this as it will simply result in them releasing gametes and dying off before attachment.

They will not show their splashes of luminous spots until their second griwth period, after dying back once.

Once settled and attached if you take the effort with caring for the cutting. You will achieve a rock that sprouts these characteristic  frilly fronds with luminous spots before growing into larger fronds, dying off and repeating the process yearly.
