Purple death Palythoa spp. (20mm Frag plug)
All our Palythoa are rested for at least 1 month prior to shipping, by this time they will be fully attached to the frag plug of their own accord and will most likely have started to grow 'pup' polyps around the base.
Description:
The same physiology as many of the "sand Palythoa" species but without the drab colours seen in most sand palythoa. Majestic purple oral disks, broken up structural by the thin ribbed scelerites radiating out from the mouth, in true palythoa fashion. Short lashes in light blue/teal. Great for creating small colonies on rock islands near the sandbed. The purple on this species is far more pronounced when viewed from slightly above, under a lighting spectrum with a moderate amount of blue in it. Pure white light has a tendency to 'wash out' the colour making them appear more brown, whilst deep blue light often silhouettes the coral.
Size
Average sized palythoa with polyps upto a maximum size of a 20p piece
Care
Very easy under normal reef parameters, thrives under most lighting and flow variations. Best kept on their own isolated rocks due to their potential growth speed when happy. They can also be mixed with other similar palythoa on a rock, which can, rarely result in mixed coloured morphs forming between different coloured palythoa!
Growth
Very fast once settled
Minimum polyp count per frag
Available as frags of 4 polyps and 10 polyps
