Whilst we aim to send all our mushroom species, attached to a small piece of rock rubble, tile or frag plug it must be understood these species are motile and as such often release their foot during shipping, in an attempt to 'float away and settle in a more preferable location'. We cannot guarantee they will arrive still holding onto the substrate they were shipped on. We recommend that you familiarise yourself with how to attach mushrooms to rock rubble by placing them in a container with rubble in a location they cannot float away from. We are aware some sell mushrooms superglued to frag plugs but see no benefit in doing this as it just stresses the coral and they will most likely secrete mucous and release their foot in your aquarium and float off anyhow!

Description:

A staple, easy to keep, Discoma mushroom morph. Showing a lot of variation of colour dependent upon lighting and nutrient levels. Looking best with some blue light in your spectrum, which brings out the blue spots on the mushroom, especially when viewed from above. Main base colour varies from light pinky-red to a deep rusty-red/brown depending on lighting. The mushrooms display many random spots throughout their head which reflect blue light, giving them the appearance of  bright blue spots.

Size

All shipped mushrooms will we adults around 50p piece in diameter when expanded. Please be aware, mushrooms shrink extremely small and close tightly during shipping, often looking like little more than a 'pea sized, blob of jelly' on arrival. Be extremely careful when opening packets not to accidentally squash the mushroom when handling plugs/rock rubble or pour it away should it have detached in shipping.

Care

Easy under normal reef parameters, prefer low to medium lighting and low to medium, indirect flow

Growth

Moderate to fast once settled, dropping babies around itself by splitting parts of its foot off (pedal laceration).
